How long do courses last for? Typically 2 hours
a week for 1-3 terms (10 weeks per term).
Who are they for? Adults eligible for LSC funding.
Provision is for people who are assessed as needing to improve their
numeracy level, between Entry 1 and Level 2 (GCSE Level). Levels:
Entry 1, Entry 2, Entry 3, Level 1, Level 2 (follow link to course
descriptions)
How do we work? Maths classes at BEC take the
form of a workshop. You can work on addition, multiplication, subtraction,
decimals, percentages and much more. You work at your own pace and
take qualifications whenever you feel ready. You can enrol anytime
between September and June when courses run. We also provide a free
creche for daytime courses between 10 and 3 pm.
What do people say about numeracy at BEC? ‘At
BEC, I got an ‘A’ in my English GCSE and I’m doing a Level 2 National
Numeracy Test. This will enable me to go on to do my teacher training.
