How long do courses last for? 6 hours a week
for 1 3 terms (about 10 weeks a term)
Who are they for? These classes are for you
if you would like to develop your skills in reading, writing, speaking
and listening. We will ask you to do an assessment to help us decide
which of our classes is best for you. You must be eligible for LSC
funding to do these courses.
Courses: Entry Level Workshops (O:\Tutors&Courses\courses\course
outlines\LitEng\Entry Lit 07 08.doc), Level 1and 2 Workshops (O:\Tutors&Courses\courses\course
outlines\LitEng\Levels 1 and 2 07 08.doc); English for Childcare;
Working with Children Level 1 (NCFE).
How do we work? You will join a workshop that
suits your level. You can improve your reading, writing, grammar,
spelling and punctuation as well as speaking and listening skills.
You will work on different types of texts for example: letters,
newspapers, books. You can work on computers and use internet resources.
Your tutor will help you to find a way of learning that suits you
best and you will work towards an OCR Entry Level Certificate in
Adult Literacy.
Courses run between September and June and you can
enrol at anytime. We offer a free creche for children aged 6 months
and over for daytime courses between 10 and 3 pm.

Cost: you pay a registration fee of £5 each
term.
